Duckies

We will be hanging out with these cute little duckies all weekend
celebrating their first Halloween.
We have lots of fun things planned:
Carving pumpkins, Halloween parties, visiting family and watching very tame scary movies.
Rick and I are not the bravest scary movie watchers.
We watched one last night with some friends and Rick started out very comfortable all by his lonesome in the recliner.
By the end he was cuddled in a ball with me on the small love seat! So funny.
Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Picking Pumpkins

We spent our night at Hee Haw Farms picking out pumpkins.
It was a little bit of a rushed visit because it was colder than we had anticipated and
the girls little noses were getting redder by the second.
Mission accomplished though and I think we picked some beauties.

They had this pit that was full of miniature baby pumpkins.
Perfect for our two little munchkins.

6 Month Picture Time

6 month pictures did not go exactly as I imagined.
I was told when the girls were 3 months that when I went in to get their 6 month pictures
that they would smile smile smile.
Not so.
They were so freaked out by the photographer, the lights,
the camera and all the squeaky little toys we were shoving in their faces that it was not the smile fest I was planning on.
I was so stressed out by the end I felt like I had ran a few miles.
My mom made it all better by buying me a Diet Coke and some Chick-Fil-A after.
Moms just know what to do.
Regardless, we got some great shots and I'm so happy with them. Even a few little grins!

This one makes me smile. Clara had her little hand on Bree and wouldn't take it off. It is so reflective of their personalities. Clara is definitely the dominate personality in this twosome and I can see her being protective of little sister (even though she's only about 3o minutes older).

The Leaves are Changing

It is definitely that time of year.
The leaves are starting to change and we are feeling that fall chill.
We decided to make our way up to American Fork Canyon today
to check out the beautiful scenery of the changing seasons.
It was a relaxing Sunday drive and we got out
and walked around a bit up at Tibble Fork Reservoir.

I love fall and all of the beautiful colors it brings.
We are lucky to live so close to the most beautiful mountains
and be able to go up on a moments notice whenever we like.

Good Day

The girls and I went up to the Mount Timpanogas Temple and just relaxed in the beautiful weather. It has been really chilly, but today was just perfect.
I'm soaking up every second of these semi-warm days before winter sets in.
Oh how we do not want winter to come.

I was enjoying myself so much, that I think we stayed a little too long. Their faces in this picture are like, "okay mom, this is beautiful but we are hungry. Let's go home!"
Oops..
Regardless of the picture below, we had such a good time and the girls loved being outside.

We Love Cal Bears

I think I can safely say one of the first things I knew about Rick when we started to date was that he loved Cal Football. This is his team from back home and he is a die hard fan. Because we are in Utah, not many Cal games are available for Rick to see. This year only one game was going to be televised on Utah stations so of course we had to make an event out of it!Oh yes we did. We got dressed up for the game. Hello cute Cal baby onesies. Rick's mom sent him these adorable Cal onesies when we found out we were having two girls. They finally fit into them and I had to take advantage and dress the girls up.

I know when Rick imagined watching Cal Football with his kids one day, he did not imagine two twin girls in his arms. I know he wouldn't change a thing.

We made pumpkin cookies and just watched the game. Cal got killed. Boo.
It was still fun!

Rick focused in on the game while Bree and Clara are more interested in fighting over toy keys.

GO CAL!

Six Months

My goodness, I can't believe the girls are half way to a year. What and unbelievable six months it has been. This month has brought a few significant changes: baby food and sitting up.
We are so happy both girls are now sitting and they can start to play with each other better this way. They are still a bit wobbly and there have been many falls, but they are quickly getting the hang of it.

Neither Bree or Clara are hesitating on growing at all. When we went in for their six month appointment, the doctor didn't even need to use the premature chart any longer. They are 75th percentile for their weight on the regular chart and 95 percentile on the preemie chart. Yes, we are feeding them well! They have caught up to all the other babies their same age and have come a long way since those 4 lb preemie babies that couldn't keep their own bodies warm.
Good job girls!

-Loves to sleep and will always go down without hesitation for and nap and bedtime.
-She continues to have the sweetest personality that we can't help but adore.
- Much more quiet but we occasionally get a few jibber jabbers here and there.
-Has a soft little laugh that we are learning how to coax out of her more and more.
- Was the first to sit up at 6 months and 1 week.
-Has some beautiful baby blues that are here to stay. I love looking at those eyes. I never thought I would have a blue eyed child!
- She tried bananas and carrots this month for the first time and although she does give a sour face, she is experimenting well with it.
-As soon as I give her a mouth full of food, she brings her hands up and begins to chew on them. Thus, all the food gets on her hands and not in her tummy. Messy!
-Whenever we undress her and she just has her diaper on, she brings her fisted hands up close to her chest as a comfort. As soon as we get her dressed back up, the hands come down.
-Favorite toy is her sunshine that sings, "You are my sunshine".

-Loves blowing raspberries and sticking her tongue out at us and spitting. She will mimic us when we coax her to do it.
-Still not a great sleeper. Dad has to rock her every night until she is so tired she can't keep her eyes open any longer. We usually can't get her to bed until about an hour after Bree goes down.
Sat up at 6 months and 2 weeks. Showed no signs of even being close to sitting up, then immediately it kicked in one day and she was steady.
-Her hair is coming in thicker and thicker and starting to get darker and darker.
-It's looking like her eyes will be staying brown. We will give it a few more months, but I'm pretty sure it is sticking.
-She is and active little thing. She is constantly arching her back when we put her in the car seat or on the couch. She doesn't like to sit still.
-Favorite toy right now is a singing book Grandma Kathy bought her. It lights up and sings which really grabs her attention.
-Tried banannas and carrots for the first time. She isn't too interested and eventually just locks up her jaw. She still loves rice cereal.
-As always, she is still showing off her high pitch squeals when she is happy or sad.

And in a Close Second..

Clara is now sitting.
It didn't take her long after Bree figured it out. Only about a week later.
Clara was not about to let Bree have all of the fun.
She sat up for the first time at Great Gma and Gpa Hansen's house so they got to witness the occasion.

Here She Sits...

At 6 months and 1 week, here Bree sits all by herself...

Good job sweet baby!!

Clara isn't quite there yet but isn't far behind.

Picture Dump

I realize this blog has turned into a Bree and Clara only blog.
I dedicate to doing better at posting more about Rick and I, promise!
I have been horrible at taking pictures the past few months, but
I have taken a few I wanted to remember.
So, here is a big ol' picture dump from the past little while...

At the doctor getting their four month shots which followed by their first rice cereal experience the same day. First experience with rice cereal? They didn't like it too much.

Cutest little ruffle bums I've ever seen

My life now..feeding babies! In restaurants, doctors offices and even bathroom stalls(don't worry, I have it down to an art to make sure it's sanitary). You gotta do what you gotta do.

Daddy's little girls in Jordan gear. First thing Rick bought for them while I was pregnant.

Bree, our little couch potato.

So happy together....

Grandma Kathy and Bree after church on Sunday

It is tiring being a dad to twins. Rick multitasking by feeding Clara and sleeping at the same time.

Our bathing beauties after their bath...

Bree hogging all the stuffed animals.

Clara loving her new jumper

Last but definitely not least. Bree laughing at mom. 5 months old.
